The new Appalachian Voices blog is up and running! We will be covering daily environmental, cultural, and political news for Western North Carolina, and the entire Appalachian Region.

Our main focuses are on ending mountaintop removal coal-mining, clean air, and sustainable forestry. We will, however, be covering a wide range of issues.

2. Lets be friends!

When you really get down and talk to people, thats most of us. only 29% of West Virginians SUPPORT mountaintop removal. I think what people don't realize is that the threats are from the outside, and mountain folks are pretty unified in keeping our mountains and our culture in tact.

Beautiful place. Gettin Charles Taylor out of congress would be a great way to help the cause! Im sure youre in on that. Work hard! Ill probably be down there a time or two, but yall make us proud!

6. Great blog!

I am concerned, however, about this ad I keep seeing in the "News and Observer". It talks about a resort coming to Blowing Rock, with golf courses and all the usual stuff. I wish they would leave the place alone!

9. Theres two things there

1. The Globe Project- Thats a logging project of the USFS
2. The Ginn Development - I think thats what youre talking about. Some folk fought that, but I think that its going forward. Let me know if you find anything out! - [e-mail]
