The best ad to discredit Shuler???
The first time I saw the ad I felt complete disgust at the message and "tone" of the woman speaking, but a Western Carolina University professor says, "I think it's an effective ad in the sense that it's believable. In my opinion, that may be the best ad they've put out yet in terms of trying to discredit Shuler." A gray-haired woman chastises Shuler for saying Taylor voted to cut Social Security. She says, "If this Heath Shuler were my kin, I'd wash his mouth out. He should be ashamed trying to scare us like that."

It's just incredible to me that this particular trashy ad is Taylor's "best"!

1. Robin Hayes is running a similar ad......
claiming his opponent called the Medicare D drug plan a "boondoggle". Hayes is running scared because he was in a supposedly "safe" seat.

2. Someone just emailed me the new Kissell poll.
Larry Kissell is leading Robin Hayes by a 51-44 percent margin. So much for the safe seat! I will post the poll as soon as I have a link.

3. Cool....
have you seen any current numbers for NC-13? Last I heard the seat wasn't even competitive, but Vernon Robinson's been running ads everywhere, even on my morning radio show :puke:

4. Rally for Kissell
Just returned from a rally for Larry Kissell. John Edwards was there too and it was great. Kissell reported this 51-44 poll results and the crowd went wild.
Edwards described Kissell as a man who had worked for a living all of his adult life and knew the meaning of hard work. Kissell, he said, knows the concerns and problems of the middle class and said he was not one who had everything handed to him and didn't have to work. Talked about CAFTA and how it had lost so many jobs in District 8.

6. Getting daily recorded phone calls from Taylor people
The recorded message says "I want to tell you some facts about Heath Shuler". It seems the word "shame" is the one Taylor has tried to focus on (a lot). Also getting frequent mailings that have the word "shame" in big letters. They are going after Shuler for being late on paying taxes. Of course, Taylor has a skeleton in his closet on that issue.
