10th Dist Repubs upset with McHenry ties to Foley & Lobbyist
This was in the NC Conservative today.

The NC Democratic Party should work on taking this US Congressional
seat next time, but also be guarded against a McHenry run for US Senate:

McHenry let Republicans down by Dennis A. Benfield

In two years as de facto party “leader” in the district, McHenry made many promises to Republican groups to “lead the ticket” this fall. Instead, the landscape is littered with defeated Republicans across several counties, and the young congressman was all bluster. He “meddled” a lot more than he “campaigned....”

...He’s lied, apparently often (remember “McHenry Real Estate”? No phone, no employees, etc.).
He’s taken hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign donations from individuals and corporations who shouldn’t be concerned about the 10th District (sugar refiners, cigarette makers, Tom DeLay). According to Federal Election Commission reports bearing his signature, his “personal net worth” now is “more than $301,000 and less than $1.2 million.”
Three years ago, he had next to nothing. McHenry Real Estate, by the way, lists “zero assets” and “zero liabilities”—which means, it exists in name only.

He’s done the dirty work for Washington’s powerful GOP leaders, but now, he’s under the Mark Foley investigational umbrella into inappropriate contact with congressional pages. There are legal questions, too, about his relationship with at least one man who votes in Gaston County, but attends college and has a driver’s license in another state.

1. My gosh, that guy is worse than I even imagined.
I remember how smug he was during the Mark Foley scandal. His face was everywhere on television. Now I'm reading that even Republicans can't stand him and want him to run for the Senate so that the Democrats can take him down.

After this last election I had a fleeting thought of him finally being in the MINORITY party because he was so full of himself. One of the many many things to be thankful for.

2. it gets worse!
This conservative mag also ragged on Charles Taylor big time,
and Taylor threatened to sue.

But here is more on McHenry, from the conservative mag that
can't stand him:

The central feature of McHenry’s “party leadership” has been his ongoing feud with Catawba County Sheriff David Huffman, who won reelection in spite of McHenry. In addition to his vindictiveness, McHenry is no longer a secret.

Yes, he often votes “the right way” and does serve individual constituents.
But he also lives a questionable lifestyle—in terms of 10th-District
conservatism—with character and ethical issues.

According to many witnesses, he’s inclined to
big shindigs with free-flowing alcohol.
More Republicans now see this side of him, but they held their noses and voted
to keep the district from Democrat hands.

They may actually kill republican support for
him in the next two years.

3. OMG! I know the man who wrote this editorial!
He was teaching part time at CVCC (in Hickory) my first semester there, 2 summers ago. I took a 'College Success' class from him (the class is required for all students, and it was a real waste of credits IMO, particularly for an adult student like me).

Anyway, I could not stand this man. I wore my Democratic Team 2004 t-shirt to class one day early in the semester, and he picked on me in a belittling sort of way thru the whole class. Once when he called me a bleeding heart liberal, I told him that at least liberals had a heart to bleed. He didn't teach from the textbook, but taught us 'his' lessons for success in school and life. Most of it consisted of the usual RW claptrap, plus a bunch of ego stroking about how great he had made out as an 'entrepeneur' and all his 'business' success. Ugh. I hated that class. He gave me an A - which I earned so it wasn't a gift.

I thought about reporting him, because he was a crappy teacher and egotistical to boot. I didn't, but I found out later that a bunch of people who had him that semester and the following one had, and he wasn't asked back.

Sorry this is off-topic! but I just couldn't help myself!

4. Here's a snip from their 'about' page (snicker alert!)
The North Carolina Conservative is a new, state-wide newspaper. January, 2005 marks the first issue of what will soon be the largest circulation, and most influential, newspaper in the state.

The North Carolina Conservative was started by a group of concerned citizens who found the biased reporting of the liberal North Carolina news media intolerable. Under the leadership of Judson Cox (editor in chief) and Rebecca Carroll Cox (managing editor), conservatives across the state, throughout the nation and as far away as Israel have rallied together to right this wrong.

The North Carolina Conservative will hold our representatives accountable by reporting the news that is unreported or under reported by North Carolina’s liberal media.

-snip-

The North Carolina Conservative believes that the overwhelming majority of North Carolinians are conservative, as witnessed by our high church attendance and how our state votes in national elections.

The North Carolina Conservative defines a conservative, as one who seeks to preserve the best aspects of western culture, including the Judeo-Christian values and free market economics enshrined in our Constitution - those things that made America the freest, most prosperous nation on earth. A conservative rejects the failed philosophies of Rousseau and Marx, that have bankrupted every nation that has embraced them, and caused more deaths in the "people's republics," than all of the world's wars combined.

6. its the story thats the point. This is good for us.
ok ok ok, don't you get it?

A "conservative" website/paper is outing a hard core right wing
anti gay republican congressman.

That is good for us.

Too bad it didn't come out before November.

The good thing about this conservative paper is that they
attacked Republican COngressman Charles Taylor, which helped us
get a dem in office.

Yes, its a hard core conservative site, but it works
to our benefit.

The word about McHenry will spread.

HE is extremely anti gay.
