Triangle Get Together next Weekend? 1/5 or 1/6?
I would love to get together with all of you after the holiday. Next Friday or Saturday?

What say you? I'll check in when I can.

1. I'm free the sixth, far as I know..
...I'd like to recommend Broad St. Cafe in Durham - just because I know the owner is trying like Hell to make a go of the place and they have a great selection of wine and beer, Gugglehupf pastries, and hand-made sandwiches and empanadas (no restaurant-type hot food though). We could probably take over a corner of the place.

Friday, they've got live music 9-12:00:

www.myspace.com/thebicycats

The Bicycats are lead by singer/songwriter Zach The Shark Bernstein, a Long Islander by heritage, but a Western New Yorker by heart. On thistour he will be promoting his self-produced debut album, "I Love You For Your Mind", which will be available at shows and online. On stage, he is joined by his guitar, keyboard and ukulele, and he sings about nepotism, socks, melting ferris wheels and sometimes, love. Armed with his charm, vivacity and sense of humor, Bernstein tries to keep the audience happy and cursing to a minimum. Dan Costello of Urban Folk Magazine had this to say about his music, "When I want to listen to someone who makes me laugh because his simple melodies and straight up honesty are so simple and straight up they are poetic, I can always
count on Zach "The Shark" Bernstein's concoctions. 'Every Time We Say Goodbye (Not A Cole Porter Song)' gets a special shout out for the well-placed marimba."

4. The 6th Sounds good
Edited on Wed Jan-03-07 04:41 PM by supernova
I've wondered about Broadstreet. I didn't know who took it over after the last place that was there. (Which I can't remember now. :P edit: The people who had all the kitchy decor. There were a couple of Dean meetups there in '04.)

Broadstreet sounds good to me. Always willing to help a neighbor trying to make a go of it.

6:30ish?

6. I can be there about then...
...maybe by 7:00 latest. The only potentially interfering thing I see on their calendar is:

Jan 6: 10:00 Over 21 Dance Party w/DJ. Cover TBD.

But that's three or more hours later than we'll be there. Could be entertaining to stay and watch though. ;) Their covers are usually $3 - 5 or so. The guy now running it is trying like Hell to make a go of the place. Lisa Furakawa Ray performs there once a month or so. She's a Tori Amos soundalike but writes her own stuff. She really sounds gooood! They had a Tori Amos Tribute / RAINN benefit there a month or so ago and Lisa was part of that. I went there in December and saw another awesome band there (silly name: MRK and the Famous). They do get some good music and events. I've met the owner and even helped them out once with collecting covers and such. It was fun. He's a really nice guy.

13. It was great, thanks.
Had sunshine everyday. The water was beautiful. Went snorkeling a couple of times. And we went to a zip line park while there. Very exciting.

Sorry we had to bug out early. 'Old Joy' - the film we saw - was so-so, IMO. Hey s4p, I still think we oughtta film your storytelling sequences. ;) They're priceless!
