PEACEKEEPERS NEEDED FOR MARCH 17 RALLY IN FAYETTEVILLE Thanks to everyone who is or will be involved with the Peace March and Rally in Fayetteville on March 17, whether you will be there physically, have contributed financially to the event, or will be holding us and the wider peace movement in the Light. We can look forward to experiencing new friendships, inspiring speeches, good music, and the satisfaction of standing for a just cause.
Friends who have volunteered or want to be a peacekeeper for the March 17 Peace March and Rally in Fayetteville are invited to attend a brief training session next Wednesday, March 14, from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. It will be conducted at Durham Friends Meeting House, 404 Alexander Avenue, (919) 286-4958. Driving directions are shown at the end of this message.
Wendy is having t-shirts made for all the volunteers (which helps other marchers know whom to look to for information or assistance).
It is not too late to volunteer! Your help is needed with one or more activity such as the following:
Meeting buses as they arrive to provide information
Distributing programs and information cards
Escorting the walkers to Rowan Park
Helping at speakers booth, media table or children’s center inside the park
Picking up at the end of the rally
All volunteers, please try to be at the Clarion Prince Charles Hotel, 450 Hay Street, by 8:00 am on March 17. A light breakfast will be provided. We’ll review and divide up responsibilities. First marchers and buses are expected to arrive about 10:00 am; “pre-rally” at the Community Health Center is scheduled for 11:00 am. March sets off at about 12:00 noon, and rally is scheduled for 1:00-4:00 pm. (The distance from pre-rally to the park is a little over half a mile.)
Please bring the following items with you on March 17
