We recently returned from our first vacation to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. We spent a week at the Clarion Hotel in Kill Devil Hills. We had a third floor oceanfront room with a balcony which provided a terrific view of the Atlantic. The ocean was rough due to persistent high winds, and they put "No Swimming" flags on the beach for four straight days. I did get in the ocean before that however. Also got in windsurfing on Roanoke Sound twice. We saw the Wright Brothers National Park, Jockey's Ridge State Park, the Bodie Island lighthouse, Roanoke Island, and drove over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel for the first time. We over-ate at some really nice restaurants, and had our first real hushpuppies, & NC barbecue. Everybody was so friendly... It was refreshing. Total strangers offered to give us directions, and talked to us like old friends. I just wanted to send some positive karma from Pennsylvania to the terrific people of the Outer Banks, NC.
