ID of young woman found shot dead Wed morning in Chapel Hill

has just been released: she was the UNC student body president, Eve Carson.
Her Toyota Highlander is missing also. Local news sources are breaking in w/ details.

1. That broke my heart. The news made me cry.

My sister was at the game in Chapel Hill that evening. She told me the next day someone had been murdered, but she didn't know who it was. I have three family members who went to school in that beautiful town.

3. hearing the news initially was stunning

There were reports wed. of gunfire and then a body found. I couldn't help thinking it was a student and knew it would be devestating to family and friends. Just didn't expect it to be someone so well known to the campus community.

my daughters were raised here, and this kind of news always makes me worry for them and their friends as they are about the same age as the deceased woman.

a sensless tragedy by all definitions.

2. Eve's car found

Chapel Hill, N.C. — As thousands gathered on the UNC campus Thursday afternoon to remember slain UNC senior Eve Carson, police recovered her sport utility vehicle a little more than a mile from where police found her body Wednesday morning.

Chapel Hill Police Chief Brian Curran said a resident on North Street spotted the blue 2005 Toyota Highlander with Georgia license plate AIV-6690 at about 2 p.m. near the intersection of North and Hillsboro streets.

The SUV was taken to the town's operations center, to collect further information about Carson's death. Curran said it did not appear to be damaged.

6. Suspect(s) - Eve's ATM Used.

Chapel Hill, N.C. — Chapel Hill Police Chief Brian Curran said Sunday a second person is believed to be in the back of a vehicle driven by a suspect sought in connection with the slaying of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Student Body President Eve Carson.

Photographs released during a news conference Saturday morning show what appears to be a male figure behind the driver's side of the vehicle.
