2. There are so many to choose from.
It use to be Country Club Hills, IMO. But one of the newer ones would be Wakefield. LOL-- there are plenty of others.

6. Wakefield would be a top contender
because of this week's http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/2653362/">rain barrel incident.

Man, you couldn't pay me to live with a HOA.

8. To be fair, Myers Park is
mostly 'old money.'

I once went to a Dem fundraiser at the home of Sara Belk Gambrell. She was absolutely lovely. I wish I could have gotten to know her better, but I stopped a lot of that kind of activity because my personal life was going down the toilet at the time.

It's always the nouveau-riche types who try too hard.

10. Raleigh and Durham
Edited on Sat Apr-05-08 09:11 PM by supernova
There are the Mordecai and Oakwood neighborhoods in Raleigh. Historic downtown, with a lot of refurbished and restored homes. Though it's got kind of a turnover. Nevertheless, if it's historic home tours during the holidays your looking for, that would be the place.

About the closest I can see to Myers Park around here is the Hope Valley neighborhood in Durham. Very hush hush golfing, preppy types. Everyone likes to hang out getting quietly wealthy in stocks and venture caps.

edit: May I ask where this fascination with wealthy parts of town came from?

17. Well i don't know anything about Myers Park unless you mean the one in Durham off Sparger
as far as higher end housing there is the neighborhood behind Wiley Elementary off St. Mary's, there is anything downtown over towards mordecai, bloodworth north, there are bunches in north raleigh little enclaves here and there.
In Durham there is hope valley yeah although Forest Hills still has the better old stuff, there is very expensive condos right downtown by main and mangum that are pretty sweet, there is also an interesting high end neighborhood in west durham that has interesting houses a nice neighborhood feel and ever incresing additions that are twisting the original look of the homes decidedly modern between Cornwallis and Erwin.
Then there is Treyburn, take a drive down old trail dr or Vintage Hill.

12. The HOA thinks
they will make the neighborhood look too tacky, never mind it's good thing to do for the environment.

No, no way can you make me live with an HOA. Ever.

13. The rain barrels look perfectly okay
in the featured photo. That's just silly.

Besides, we keep hearing how severe the drought is. Mayor Meeker and Governor Easley would be proud.

Screw the HOA.
