DFA members banned from hearing President Bush in Fargo, ND!

DFA members were not treated well when they asked for the opportunity to see President Bush. 33 members of the DFA meetup group in Fargo-Moorhead were turned away. In addition, individuals were turned away for, among other reasons, writing editorials opposing some of his ideas, supporting Joe Satrom's campaign, producing Ed Schultz's radio show, working as a glass artist, and organizing a rally in opposition to the same-sex marriage amendment.

I used to dislike those who would say "Not my president!" But after this, I'm realizing that they were right after all.

5. Ed talked about this on his show

and had the Fargo Alderman who was on the list on his show. Even Ed's producer James Holems was on the list. He was out in LA launching the station out there.

He would have had a bigger field day with this if he was still on News and Views.

6. I am on the list, and my wife is seriously creeped out

She is not politically active, although she is very liberal. She doesn't to go progressive web sites. She doesn't belong to DFA or Prairie Progressives. And they got her name wrong. (Attention Agent Mike. Bad Police Work. Shame on you).

The fact that somebody decided to add my wife (by combining her first name with my last) is very, very creepy.

Otherwise, I was pumped (but also pissed that The Forum took the bait and ran it).

8. They are saying, in a roundabout way

...that they know MORE about her than the public record indicates. That someone is a rat. That they are watching you. And you had better watch your back.

It IS a police state. It totally sucks. They are taking ordinary, everyday Americans, who believe in the fucking CONSTITUTION and the rule of law, and turning them into subversives just with tiny terror tactics like the one you cited.

11. I wasn't on the list, but I lost my job for attending this protest.

The pig saw me on TV, I took the day off without pay, with 3 days notice. He made up some bullshit about my performance. (he sent me an iTunes gift certificate last week saying "great job") but I get on TV screaming about Bush and I get fired.

12. banned, no appeal, no explanation, no reply - happens all over

Well, a very liberal and activist friend of mine got banned from DU and was never even told why. He says he didn't fight or insult anyone, but he's an old union democrat and not always nicey-nice like the current crop that bends over for the repugs. He never gets a reply or offer to discuss it, although he's inquired for over a year. So fascism exists even here ;') Here's a part of a letter trail he wrote. Hey, I guess I'll get banned for posting it. Oh well, maybe they believe in free speech on some other board:

That's the sort of remark the humorless PC San-Francisco pansies who run Democratic Underground kicked me off for, without appeal or reply. In some ways they're just as much fascist as the right wingers.

I've been banned two years for a similar innocuous joke, at least I figure that's what it was since they never explained themselves - being too high and mighty. And they Still don't reply to an inquiry. Far Left Fascists - they'd lord it over people just the same as the right if they had a lot of power, but not even realize they were doing it.
