I'm no longer the youngest Democratic-NPLer to run for the state house in North Dakota. Zach is two years younger than me!
Zachary Ista, 20, announced today his candidacy for the North Dakota House of Representatives in District 13 on the Democratic-NPL ticket.
Ista, a student at North Dakota State University, says he is energized for the campaign.
“I’m so excited to work hard in this campaign,” he said. “My district and state are in need of fresh, new leadership and ideas, and I am ready to offer just that. I’m anxious to listen to voters in West Fargo to see what’s on their minds. There are a lot of issues in this district and state which need to be addressed.”

Rising tuition is another issue important to Ista.
“North Dakota universities offer great opportunities to students, but in recent years, the costs have risen at alarming rates. With nearly 10 percent increases from year to year, coupled with cuts to student aid, it’s becoming harder and harder for students to pay for education. It’s time we start limiting these increases so our students aren’t burdened with massive amounts of debt when they graduate.”
