Whats up in OH-02?
Is anybody running against Schmidt? Does the Dem have a prayer?

2. It is very quite in the 2nd...
From what I have heard from Dem insiders Wulsin does not have a chance. In my opinion she would need to take either Warren County or Claremont County to win. The southeastern counties will go Dem but they can't overcome the population count in Warren or Claremont counties. I am not holding my breath on this one.

3. And that's a cryin' shame.
Hard to believe people will vote for Mean Jean even after she made a fool of herself with her Murtha comments.

But I have to agree with you, rexcat, Dr. Vic Wulsin doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell. And she'd be a good representative.

Sigh.

4. It's a tough one
but Wulsin is coming out swinging. As always, the Ohio 2nd blog has your complete coverage ;-)

For example:

This is a great chance to do some Party building in the backyard if we can get over the negativity.

5. I saw your blog and signed up...
but the reality of the situation is we live in a very "red" district. There are many points Wulsin can use against Mean Jean but I don't think it will fly in Warren or Clermont counties. We are talking radical far right-wing conservatives here. Hell, they are to the far right of Hitler.

We Dems are doing a lot in Warren County but it is still too early for any results to show up on the radar screen, so to speak. It is going to take more than several years to put things together in Warren county to see a political shift. For instance, has a Democrat run for Mason city council? No, because they won't win! Has a Democrat run for a county seat? No, because they won't win. But times are changing here (at least I hope so). I would run for Mason city council but half the Democrats wouldn't even vote for me because of my lack of religious faith. I am thinking about it even though it would be futile. I would love to see the repukes here squirm a little!

6. The Key
Edited on Mon Jul-10-06 07:22 AM by ohio2nd
in the 2nd is using wedges to gain votes from Republicans. Blackwell's theocon agenda is a wedge issue that can pick up Republican votes. Jean Schmidt is a living wedge issue. Exploit the wedge and you have the potential for some amazing pickups.

Still, this is a long term game plan. We are in a team building mode. It will take years. The key is to fight like hell and have fun doing it. It's amazing how much more relaxed you can be with nothing to lose.

You'll come for the Jean Schmidt coverage, you'll stay for the random Flickr puppy pictures on the right side of each post.

9. The Ohio Happy Time Blog,
complete with photos of bunnies with pancakes on their heads was one my favorite. Your interview coup with Sherrod wasn't too bad, either.

Good work. I, for one, appreciate it. Of course, as Pounder says (tongue in cheek) -- no one reads the blogs.
