The State of Black Ohio
I saw this posted on the ODP website this morning, hadn't noticed it before, and thought it had some useful information, especially related to economic issues.

I also noticed on the internet this morning an article about women out-performing men in college, but still lagging behind in pay. Anyone have access to something like "The State of Female Ohio?"

3. As a female in the work force who sees everyone's salary
I resent making less after 13 years of specializing in what I do than the mechanic who works on our trucks does. He toppped me in 4 short years.

Computers take a lot of work too.

4. It is totally infuriating and frustrating, plus
I have experienced getting criticized for working TOO hard.

just cause I am anal bout things does not make me "moody" or "menstrual"

It just makes me a perfectionist and a natural born Aquarius! Hah!

(It also defines me as the oldest child...does anyone THINK about that? Nooooo!)

6. Yes, BUT,
it's still enough to make you go insane some days.

7. Just in the past couple of weeks, I read a long
article about women out-performing men in college....wasn't in the NY Times magazine section?

I remember when I went into the labor force in the mid-'70's and came face-to-face with gender bias. I was just aghast at what males got away with at work...they didn't have to do a thing. They just showed up and get the promotions. Sure there were a few women tokens...who had to become one of 'them.' And some of these token women developed 'queen bee' mentalities so they fought any other women trying to move up the latter. Very sad.

The young women today are going to face the same thing. I think many have faced this glass ceiling and and either: left big corporations for a smaller firm that is less political; or found a man to marry and have kids; or started own small business; or started on prozac/zoloft....cuz the rich white boys at the corporations tell you it is YOUR fault....it does drive one insane....to the point you hate getting up and going to work.

I found the politics at work so nasty....fascist, just like w.

Anyone have good ideas to counter this?

8. I am seriously thinking about starting meetups on the ERA
and women's labor issues.
