In the Shadow of Giant Jesus in Monroe, Ohio, Bush is Sinking Low
I do a lot of flea markets on the weekend, selling extra wares for $$$.

And a couple of weekends ago, at the Turtle Creek Flea market in Monroe, Ohio, I set up shop with a couple of products that I thought would get me lots of mean looks and insults.

But boy was I surprised.

Right in the shadow of Giant Jesus, NASCAR fans, old folks, young folks and every other kind of folks reacted with glee to see my George W. Bush bedpan of shame.

It was a giant hit.

I cannot tell you how many blue collar folks came by, laughed and asked if they could take a dump in it right then and there. And we're talking what would be thought of as pure red blooded red staters here.

I guess the NASCAR blue collar crowd has wised up and figured that taking over the world for corporate fuedal lords isn't really worth losing their jobs and homes for, or paying $4 at the pump soon.

The tide it has turned, and quite dramatically.

Even in the shadow of Giant Jesus:

2. Hey next time could you add something like
a vote for DeWine is a vote for bush?! I want folks to know that Dewine is an ass-kissing bush boy....and I'm being kind.

4. you mean add that to my bedpans?
nah, nothing personal, but I don't take any suggestions for what to write on them.

I do steal ideas however ;-)

3. Aw man ... the Giant Jesus graphic isn't showing up.
Is this a prop left over from "Godzilla Meets Jesus" or something?

6. Thanks, that's a real cultural highlight you've got there.

My first thought, actually, was that is was a statue of Tantalus ... I must be 'different' somehow ... my second thought was "throw me a rope!".

7. The most hilarious thing is
Edited on Tue Jul-25-06 07:21 PM by bedpanartist
that the church is called the Solid Rock church. Its pastors and families are alleged cokeheads, and named the church as a joke.

I have heard from about 30 different people from Middletown, none who knew each other, that the guy made all of his money from smuggling cocaine into the states in the bellies of his cattle at the giant cattle ranch across the highway on I-75.

18. They are right wing religious evangelicals...
The farm was part of an estate and one part of the family screwed the other part of the family for millions of dollars. I think the coke thing is more rumor than fact.

We live about 15 miles south of the flea market in Mason, OH. That "jesus" thing is really annoying to drive past. The sign is really annoying at night (very bright lights and the message scrolls). A big distraction for drivers.

Do you realize you could probably put these on the market and make a tidy sum? I know plenty of folks who'd want one!

BTW, I'm giving this one a recommendation.

9. they are on the market!!!!
and I get loads of hits on my web site from DU, but no buyers. Just click on the link in my sig.

Donated one for a fundraiser for Stephanie Studebaker last week that fetched $55.

I WILL give you guys a good discount because you are DUers.

They are FABULOUS for fundraisers, as everyone will buy a raffle ticket to get a chance at one.

10. A question of functionality--How do you know when you got it clean?
I mean, you could scrub, scrub, scrub, and it still would look like--well--you know.

11. Ask for extra shellac so it is really easy clean-up!
You will hopefully make us a Blackwell, Dewine, and Turner bedpan soon!

13. They come shellaced
and ready to puke, piss or shit on.

In fact, I encourage folks to do so. The acidity in their urine or puke just means that that the bedpans will have a shorter life, thus creating a need in the bedpan buyer for more bedpans :-)

since I bolted from Mason, OH on 5/26. Maybe the GAS prices are the final straw?

Great work of art BTW.
