1. Stephanie, Stephanie, Stephanie
Not to cool. Just one more way us Demos use to beat our selves. Todays news should be about Ney removing his name before he gets booked for something real not some stupid family fight.
This will run in the news longer then the Republican house member in Pennsylvania who’s neighbor teen used an unlocked up pistol from his house to kill his self.

12. It's unfortunate that the Ohio forum has to get bogged down
with such a depressing occurrence. I tried the other day to start some conversations about substantive topics, but it appeared and still appears that interest is lacking. I am glad that OhioBlue started a thread on the wonderful bus tour. It has been great to hear everyone's reflections and enthusiasm. And, today, I have been impressed with some of the truly intellectual discussions going on in other parts of "Democratic Underground."

One of the risks any candidate takes on when they run for office is to have their personal lives de-railed. I have never met Stephanie Studebaker, but from what I have heard, she is a truly smart, dynamic and talented person.

I would place bets that she is married to a competitive, manipulative, controlling person; I say that coz I was married to one once. He was a (child) psychologist of all things, and after several hours of beratement and (psychological) button-pushing in front of our two young children, I finally slapped him. He called the police and told them he felt threatened (he's over six feet, and I'm definitely not).

Whatever happened here, we need to be thanking Stephanie for having had the courage to run. I think we should be sending her flowers and words of support in this difficult time, whatever transpired. She had the guts to do something most of us never will, and that is run for office. It almost makes me cry that she has been put in the position of giving up the noble and honorable calling of politics, and, at that, the politics that are for the people, not the powerful. Maybe we should see that she gets back in. I would do anything to help, if she did.

A final thought: "Republicans are never afraid to take on people in the interest of power. Democrats should never be afraid to take on power in the interests of people." (I wrote this down one day, but I don't remember from where).

4. Studebaker
This is old news, lets work to get the replacement peoples names in the papers and on TV. Any newscast should end with a free plug for the new people.
Get smart. Even GW manages to put 9-11 into everything he talks about. When in the hell are we going to learn to turn the bad shit around.

5. I'm so sorry...
...but I was incommunicado, on vacation, nowhere near a computer or DU for the past week.

I didn't know that this thread had been put off limits.

And while I'm at it, I'll go ahead and say this. I think we should just concede this race to Turner and then turn ALL OF OUR EFFORTS into finding a good, capable candidate for the next go 'round. There has to be at least one or two somewhere, either in Montco or the immediate environs. Do you seriously think any candidate has a viable shot within a month and a half of Election Day, especially against a Republican in a highly Republican district? Wasted time, wasted effort.

(And by the way, equal time rules would put any "free plug" at the end of a newscast off limits.)

Seriously?

Is that how you wish to enter the discourse?

You're beyond unfortunate.

13. Very prominent name in the Greater Dayton area
I attended Studebaker JHS, plus they have various streets and other things named for the family. How very embarrassing.

14. I hid this thread, marked the forum, but it still shows as: something unread
...in the Ohio forum. (that would be...in the "forum views" on the latest or greatest pages. )

Apparently, the only way this thread will quit showing up as "unread" for me is if people quit posting to this thread. Kapiche?

16. Okay, then how about this?
Let's begin discussing those who are running on Sept. 15, as well as those who show promise for future elections.

Other than Mitakides and Chapman, I know nothing about those also on the ballot, other than their thumbnail CVs as printed in paper.

We have less than a month, and then less than two months after the primary until November.

to be put to bed.

Enough, already. Forward, folks, let's go forward.
