Columbus, Ohio ranked #3 in the UNITED STATES as drunkest cities
Forbes Lists America's Drunkest Cities

<snip>

To do the study, Forbes ranked each city in five areas: state laws, number of drinkers, number of heavy drinkers, number of binge drinkers and alcoholism.

Coming in second on the Forbes list is another cold metropolitan area: Minneapolis-St. Paul. The twin cities ranked No. 2 for adults who reported having had a drink in the last month, No. 3 for binge drinkers and No. 12 for heavy drinkers, according to Forbes.

Completing the list of the top five drunkest cities are Columbus, Ohio; Boston; and Austin, Texas.

Forbes pointed out some surprising results. Some stereotypically "partying" cities didn't rank high on the list. Las Vegas came in at only No. 14; New Orleans, home to Bourbon Street and Mardi Gras, only ranked in 24th place. And a town known for spring-break revelers, Miami, was only No. 33 on a list of 35 cities.

1. Might be true
A dear friend who is a musician asked me to come to Columbus to work for him at some concerts in Columbus. The number of kids who were just SMASHED was astounding. The venue was selling beers that looked big enough to fill a bathtub for two bucks. A lot of kids paid the (much too low) ticket price just to get in an guzzle. By the end of the night Saturday, we were GLAD to get out of there. It was pretty depressing to see so MANY young people in really, really bad shape --I'm not kidding. Take my word for it, I've "been around" and this was awful.

However, Athens may be worse...

2. Don't kids smoke pot anymore?
A much more mellow high...no violence.

Now that would be a great Reality TV show....2 houses side by side....one filled w/ booze and the other with some pot....6 college students in each. See what happens. Fights in one.....and some great music in the other...with pizza delivery of course.

3. Oh, yeah, that too
Most of the kids who came to see one of the bands (YMSB) were extremely... ah ..."herbaceous."
