Ohio looks back 5yrs in financial records for Medicaid coverage for NH.
While * has repeatedly cut taxes for the rich, the elderly poor get zapped with the Deficit Reduction Act. Their financial records are scrutinized to see if they have used their assets in suspicious ways and therefore should not receive Medicaid coverage in nursing homes.

People work hard all their lives BUT if they are not rich this government makes certain to liquidate all their assets. But * made certain that the rich pay no estate taxes on millions of assets.

    Law tightens Medicaid coverage
Targets assets given as gifts to qualify for nursing home

    Friday, August 25, 2006
    Susan Jaffe

A new federal law makes it tougher for seniors to get Medicaid coverage in nursing homes if they give away their assets just to qualify for the program.

Some seniors have been able to obtain hardship exemptions, but these now also would be tougher to get under new rules that the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services proposes to tack on to the federal law.

To qualify for the exemption, seniors who improperly gave money to relatives or contributed to churches or charities would have to sue them to get the money back before getting Medicaid.

"This ignores the fact that most applicants lack the resources to pay the cost of filing legal action," said Kathy Keller, a spokeswoman for Ohio AARP, which is fighting the proposal.

Not only are most of those affected unable to afford a lawyer, Keller said, those who need Medicaid coverage "are significantly disabled, they are frail and elderly, and some suffer from mental impairments." ...

A state legislative committee could approve the rules when it meets on Monday. If it doesn't, Ohio will continue in violation of the federal Deficit Reduction Act, aimed at trimming unnecessary government spending. ...

The new law took effect in February and requires workers to look back five years - instead of the previously required three - into a person's financial records to determine whether assets were improperly transferred in order to qualify for Medicaid. ...

1. The whores have to make sure they get it all
Meanwhile the same MF'rs are passing laws to help the rich pass it on through repeals of the estate tax.

Steal from the poor and give to the rich and make sure they hold on to it.

2. Job & Family Services is the new name for the WELFARE DEPT.
Social security, Medicare and Medicaid are NOT welfare and should never have been placed in Job & Family Services.

We have the numbers but we don't have the power to stop this kind of crap.

Seniors and the disabled are not welfare recipients.

What the hell is wrong with Amerika? How can these phony Fristians masquerade as Christians when they have absolutely no compassion for the poor, the disabled, the elderly and children? They are so selfish and do not want to pay any taxes to support this country.
