Latest Zogby (published 9/11; taken 8/29-9/5) has Brown 44% DeWine 40%
The poll shows, according to Zogby's analysis, that Republicans are making some headway in the hottest Senate races.

Which concerns me... but I'm tempted to listen to Kos on this one:

Zogby has new interactive polling numbers out. I don't believe them for a second. Zogby's interactive numbers were atrocious in 2004, and there's nothing to indicate that they will be any better this time around. I know Democratic campaigns with good numbers will cite the poll approvingly (especially with the Wall Street Journal's imprimatur). But whatever value they may have as propaganda, don't take them otherwise seriously.

At any rate... time to get busy, y'all.

1. headway in the hottest Senate race
It's hard beating all that money. I hate saying it, but I just love how those bastards are spending money hand over fist.
All Brown needs to do it tell the truth. Labor knows what he's done for the working stiffs and it will take a hell of a lot of outside money to convince someone who either lost his job or feels dam close to experiencing what a lot of fellow workers in Ohio have. Democrat and Republican alike have lost their good paying jobs to outside sourcing and we know who is to blame.
Get your ass out and vote for your job and your way of life. It's for real this time. Don't be one of those people that sit back and wished that you took the time to vote and make that needed change.
Please, don't forget to get on the phone and remind your family members and the people you work with.
We need to talk with the ones that you feel voted for Bush people because of plain fear.
Fuck that fear shit, we want to keep our jobs first.

7. Amen to that - GOTV is so crucial this time
We have to beat Dewine by large margins. We've got to make this a concerted, all-Ohio effort, Brown and Strickland.

I'm getting nervous, y'all. Are we gonna hang in there? Is everyone going to see this one through? Lotsa disillusioned, lazy, put-off-by-politics voters this cycle, we've got to GOTV.

4. One can actually go to Zogby and sign up to be polled
The polls are done online. I never signed up. I know it sounds strange because one would expect only partisans like we at DU to sign up, but that's how Zogby does it.

5. That's not a random sampling!
That poll means nothing.

3. From a BlacKKKwell email
"...
Blackwell's campaign attributed the improvement to the start of pro-Blackwell advertising, which began August 19, and the traditional post-Labor Day spike in voter interest in political campaigns.

"Voters are catching on to Strickland's stale ideas, empty platitudes and liberal pro-tax voting record," said Blackwell campaign chair Lara Mastin. "And voters are responding positively to Ken Blackwell's bold solutions to Ohio's challenges. They are rallying around his steadfast leadership."

"Strickland lacks the vision and leadership necessary to move Ohio forward," added Mastin. "Ken Blackwell has substantially gained ground on Strickland and will soon be in the lead."
..."

Jen is right -- time to get to work!
