See what kind of garbage we're up against? I think they're getting desperate.

1. Now I feel dirty
I feel kind creepy crawly after going into a site like that.

Why is is so bad that someone had a background where they wore tie dye shirts?

It looks like all that Mike Dewine has to run on is the fact that Congressman Brown worked for George McGovern's presidential campaign.

4. After Sherrod stops laughing...
I dont know how you respond to something like this. I want to stay it speaks for itself, and there is no need to respond, but in the current political climate, where critics get likened to terrorist-lovers, I just dont know. I just got off from emailing Boehner's website per his despicable comments yesterday.

7. And that's the rub
At first glance, I thought it was so badly done, so cliched, that it was hysterically funny. But then I thought, how many people will actually believe this? Sobers you up pretty damn fast -- we may actually be in more trouble than we thought if people aren't paying attention.

I missed it: What did John say?

6. I thought the '60s were over???

I wonder how many feverish nights were spent by the Republican Senatorial Committee thinking THAT up?

Cool pants, though.

Morans.

9. I doubt that Sherrod has ever had more than two drinks at a time,
let alone do the hippie thing. It's just ridiculous. He has always been so driven in his work, he doesn't have time to be stupid, and that's what makes the site all the more ridiculous. But you are right, the R's always go out of their way to depict their opponents as the very opposite of what they actually are. It's an insidious, but a repeatedly used and successful technique. Where are the psychology/advertising majors out there? What is the best way to counteract?

13. You just hit on the Rove strategy
You CAN'T counteract. It will make you look stupid. It will draw time, energy, and attention away from more important things. It will quickly devolve into an insult-fest that you will most likely wind up on the short end of. There is no "last word" in this kind of tactic.

You just have to rise above, and trust that people really aren't that stupid, just as Unka Karl trusts that they really are. He is counting on the opponent losing focus, which opens up a whole 'nother field for attack.

Modern-day politics truly sucks. If Brown feels compelled to respond (And my next questions are, just how credible is this Republican Senatorial Committee, so is it worth even acknowledging? How widely seen is this ad?), he should probably make some crack like, "I disagree strongly with that ad -- my bell-bottoms were way cooler!" And let it go at that.

10. Just remember this, Sherrod Brown has the smarts to beat this crap
plus he would have never committed to such a risky venture if he didn't know he had the full support of the DNC and the ODP.

He's going to win; we just need to make sure we stay with him.

.... so when the vote "magically' goes to DeWine
the lap dog press will report that Sherrod Brown was
to far out for the Ohio voter.

I need a shower after seeing that. Are they kidding me??

Peace... so funny. Really. Very hilarious.

I'm going to be ill. How many more weeks of this do we have to tolerate before Mike DeWine isn't a senator anymore???

15. What's hilarious
The bush administration allocated 80 million in heating assistance and Ohio get a big ZERO.
This is hard to believe. Mike DeWine awarded $70 billion in taxpayer money to the richest Americans, and failed to lower the cost-of-living facing working families. Leaving Ohio out now is adding salt to the wounds created by Mike DeWine, George W.Bush and the Oil Giants.”
I can't wait to get down to Texas and piss on Ken Lays grave.

16. GOP thy name is hypocrite
How can they even complain about Sherrod when he was Sec. of State after all the election year crap BlaKKKwell has done?

The site itself looks like a junior high web page project.

I gotta feeling we are going to see more and more of this crap. Did anyone notice the latest set of ads on the immigration issue. Seems to me they are shotgunning and trying to find something that will give them traction. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
