Incumbent State Sen. David Goodman (R) Playing part of Challenger
Edited on Fri Sep-29-06 07:42 AM by nascar55
Here is a copy of the text from Goodman's TV ad.

" Emily Kreider wants to be our vote in the state Senate? But For the past 12 years official records show Emily Kreider failed to vote on important issues like school's, Critical care for senior's citizens and emergency services. If Emily Kreider doesn't take voting seriously how can we trust her to represent us in the Senate.

We need a Senator who takes representing us seriously, that's David Goodman. David Goodman, leadership for a change."

Leadership for a change???????????????//

He has been in Office since 1998. First in the House and now he is a Sen.

1. General Election?
Are they talking about Emily Kreider not voting in a general election, or as some kind of elected representative?

If they are talking about an election, isn't it alarming that they would know whether someone votes or not? That would be of more concern that Kreider not voting.

2. It is about her PERSONAL voting record
how she votes at the precinct level at the local polling place...

And it is disingenuous, and yes they do know when you vote at the polls...they look at the poll book to see if you:

A: voted in person
B: voted by absentee

They do not know HOW you voted, only if you did or not.

This is like Mike "Independent Thinker" DeWine not allowing the word "Republican" to be anywhere in his ads..print, radio or TV.

3. I think that is a blatant infringement of privacy.
Whether they know how I voted or not. Its nobodys' business but mine if I vote or I don't vote. I don't see why it should be made public. Jeesh. Talk about Big Brother.

4. Well, it's a public record
This kind of voter info is what we all use for targeted mailings and GOTV efforts. Voter registration information -- name, address, phone number (if listed) are available to anyone who asks. Not only how they registered in Primaries, but if they vote in Primaries or 'off-year' elections, etc. is available. For example, a campaign or Party may target GOTV efforts to registered Democrats who usually only vote in Presidential elections.

Whether or not IF you vote should be as secret as HOW you vote, may be an issue for debate. As of now, however, it is a public record.

BTW, welcome to the Ohio forum.
