I'm heading that way in a few weeks to the Canal Street Tavern for a concert. What's that area like? (300 block of East 1st Street) I'm getting more cautious as I get older I guess.

1. Like anyplace else -- keep alert

That is another part of downtown that is making a comeback, but you still have to keep your wits about you, just as you do anyplace else. I would not venture too much into downtown after, say, 10 p.m. or so, but within and around Canal Street, you should be fine if you take the usual prudent precautions.

4. The Canal Street Tavern

is one of the coolest places in Dayton.

Nothing wrong with being cautious. Just be aware of your surroundings -- as you would in any other inner city. Hopefully you'll have some companions when you walk to/from your car.

You'll love it. Have fun!

You have to eat at Old Hickory if you like ribs.

There's a few good restaurants in the Oregon Dist. just a few blocks away....
