Something stinks in Ohio - literally

A landfill in my area is putting off gases that gag people. I just got this e-mail from a teacher at the school where I worked before retirement.

Oh my goodness - I already called the Health Dept. this morning - the smell from the dump is so bad - it's coming in my blowers and the kids are complaining about the smell -
I'm ready to call Fox 8 -- got the number???

Followed by this e-mail.

The EPA folks were just here this morning -
I asked XXXXX if I could have my univent turned off - then she emailed all of us and said the univents would ALL be turned off because of the STINK --
It's so disgusting -- my kids were complaining ---

The univents are air exchangers that are required to be running all the time. I guess this is the wonderful Republican Clear Air. I wonder if the kids will have recess today.

I believe the dump is collapsing. Not a good thing to have happen. The EPA has given the company until the end of December to fix the odor problem. They also gave them a license to expand. Somehow the two things just don't go together.

7. E-mailed him last week

The supt. fluffed off the problem with the media saying that the odor never got in the building because the vents had been shut off beforehand. That was an out and out lie. I can't call him on it without revealing my friend's name. It's her call now.

10. I did see Blackwell's bus turning onto I-77 as I came into town.

Someone on the bus waved. I gave them a thumbs down. Mr cmd didn't think I was being very nice. He graciously waved back. The smell was unbelievable.
