Need corroboration on something I heard re: absentee ballots
I was having dinner with a friend last night. She's a touring musician, about to be hitting the road today, and she was angry about the absentee ballot situation, which she summarized thusly: apparently, on all the absentee ballots that have already gone out, there's an invalidating misprint and new ballots are going out. An issue that requires a "for/against" was printed as a "yes/no," or something suchlike. My friend's fears are that, a) new ballots won't arrive in time for hers to be sent to her on tour and make it back to the BOE in time for her vote to count, and, more importantly, b) that word hasn't gotten out and that lots of people will be voting with ballots that will be thrown out, or will vote with both ballots and get both thrown out as a result of voting twice, yadda yadda. She didn't say whether the issue with the misprint was a statewide or countywide issue (we're in Cuyahoga, so this *would* be a sly Blackwellish way to invalidate a lot of Dem votes), but either way, I'm having trouble finding any media corroboration on this. Has anyone else heard this? Has she perhaps misunderstood or misreported something, or is there something to this alarming-sounding information?

2. It's true
5,100 voters get flawed absentee ballots
Tuesday, October 10, 2006
Tasha Flournoy
Plain Dealer Reporter
More than 5,100 voters in a dozen Cuyahoga County communities may have received flawed absentee ballots.

The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections reported Monday that the errors - mostly misspellings and omitted words - appear on ballots for more than a dozen local issues and will require corrected ballots to be sent to voters.

Elections Director Michael Vu said elections officials have yet to identify all of the voters who will need corrected ballots. But he advised all absentee voters to submit their ballots and not wait for a corrected version.

One of Blackwells tricks again so he can nullify some Dem votes? I swear, if he fiddles it again so Republicans win, then theres going to be trouble.

4. It's amazing that these even got out
I know one of the "misprints" was calling a Dem a Repub and a Repub a Dem.

6. Heard about it 10 days ago
Happened to be watching FOX8 news after the baseball game last week and heard about it!
I rewound and did a quick transcript.

It's starting...in Ohio on the DU Election Reform thread.

Yep misprint a bunch of ballots, mail 'em out and DISQUALIFY all those that get returned.

"Honey, are you almost packed for Florida?"
"Yes Dear. All the luggage is in the trunk and we're ready to go!"
"Well, hon, we need to stop at the post office on our way out of town. Our absentee ballots just came, so let's fill them out and get them in the mail before we leave."
"Yes yes! I'm glad you remembered. Let's fill them out now so we KNOW WE VOTED."

Michael Vu should step down because he is a COMPLETE INCOMPETENT.

:patriot:

fyi, i wrote my take on the absentee ballot HERE
