1. what a mess. looks suspicious to me. Check out pros and cons at

...."Issue 1 is a referendum that would confirm or repeal certain provisions of recent legislation (S.B. 7) which implemented...reforms to Ohio's workers' compensation system and... (Note: the Ohio Secretary of State ruled that the campaign seeking to place Issue 1 on the ballot did not submit the required number of valid signatures. 2. this is more important than any proposed stupid smoking ban
and, at that, while everyone is obsessed about whether and where they or their friends are going to be able smoke, workers rights that unions fought and lost their lives over are just going right down the tube.

3. Issue #1 has been withdrawn.
I just received my absentee ballot and enclosed is this notice:

Issue #1

You are hereby advised that due to a court order effective October 11, 2006, Issue #1 has been withdrawn from the November 7, 2006 ballot.

Any votes for or against said issue will NOT be counted.

And now, I've got to fill out my ballot and VOTE -- straight Democratic ticket, of course!
