OSU/Michigan hype - and now Bo Schembechler has died
The stakes for tomorrow's game became even higher

The chance for violence and mayhem just increased exponentially.

I will be in my warm house, thank you very much.

Go get em Bo. This really is sad news.

When his good friend Woody way very sick a stupid reporter
asked Bo if Woody wanted could he sit on the Michigan bench.
Bo said, "That man could sit on my bench any day of the week."

Reporter being stupid then asked, "What if he did not want to sit
on your bench?'

Bo, "I would give him your *^^@!!XX tickets."

Much love Bo from an Ohio State Fan!

Sleep pretty darling do not cry
And I will sing a lullabye

Smiles awake you when you rise
Sleep pretty darling do not cry
And I will sing a lullabye

Once there was a way to get back homeward
Once there was a way to get back home
Sleep pretty darling do not cry
And I will sing a lullabye

2. I heard on the radio this morning
That they are increasing parking bans near the stadium and towing cars to "minimize to possibility of overturned cars and arson".

WTF? If I applied for a permit for an Anarchy festival at Gooddale park, and said "by they way, you might want to ban parking to minimize the possibilty of vandalism and arson...", do you think I'd get the permit?

I don't fucking get it. I don't get it at all.

5. It's sad that fan violence is expected these days
It hasn't happened in recent years, but whenever the University of Dayton won a big game in the late '70s and early '80s (like, beat Notre Dame in basketball), the entire off-campus area would go into full riot mode: Mobs in the street, couches set on fire, trash on fire, the whole bit. And the cops, for a long time, took a hands-off attitude -- just sat back and watched. Then things started to escalate toward **serious** violence (kids started going after the cops), and they actually started busting people and hauling them into court, and the school started suspending them. That cut down on the revelry considerably.

I was a "townie" at UD in the early 1980s and it pissed me off that NOWHERE else in Dayton would such behavior be tolerated. In some areas, the National Guard probably would have been called out if even a chair were hauled out in the street and torched. At the very least, there would have been massive arrests. It also torqued me off that as a taxpayer, it was costing me for this foolishness that came from people who only lived here for a school year and truly thought Dayton ordinances did not apply to them. I actually wrote a letter to the campus newspaper about it, from the perspective of a taxpayer, not a student. I think I got some good feedback from some professors, if memory serves.

I don't get it either, and I hope -- probably in vain -- that Columbus gets through the weekend relatively intact. Win or lose, it could be bad.

3. End Of An Era...
I grew up in Ohio through now living in Ann Arbor - I normally lurk but had to come out for this announcement.

I'm a loyal Buckeye, class of '83, but I know I'm not alone in stating Bo will be missed. I feel as bad as I did when Woody died. Most assuredly the end of an era.

I really hope the violence will be reduced if not eliminated out of RESPECT. Many OSU fans and students are from football loving families. Bo and Woody were central to "football loving families." Now, both are part of history and I hope the fans of "THE game" will show a huge amount of respect.

I almost wish the game could be postponed... Almost.

4. It's a sad day indeed
I'm sure Bo would want the game to go on, but it just won't be the same. My heart goes out to Bo, his family and the U of M. I might be singing "We don't give a damn for the whole state of Michigan", but in my heart, I do. November just wouldn't be the same without them. Rest in peace, Coach.
