BWC probe nets another conviction
A Florida man pleaded guilty Wednesday to bribing a former official at the Ohio Bureau of Worker's Compensation in return for millions of dollars worth of investment business.
Clarke Blizzard, 53, admitted to one count of conspiracy. Blizzard worked for several brokerage firms and made $2.5 million in fees and commissions from BWC investments he handled, prosecutors said.
Between 1998 and 2004, Blizzard paid about $20,000 in bribes to Terry Gasper, the BWC's former chief financial officer, including checks to for Gasper's sons tuition and money to Gasper's then-girlfriend.

In an unusual move, Blizzard's hearing was held at the federal courthouse in Fort Myers, Fla. Blizzard lives in Florida and U.S. District Judge David Dowd was vacationing there, which was the reason for the change of venue.
