Cuyahoga County elections board member Sally Florkiewicz resigned Tuesday, leaving only the board chairman to fight removal by Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner.

On her way out, Florkiewicz, a Republican whose term was to expire in 2012, accused Brunner, a Democrat, of using and said she is "not willing to be used as a political statement."

Board Chairman Bob Bennett said Tuesday that he has no intention of resigning. ... in the process of the recount. Bennett is implying that Mason reversed his position. I am foggy on the details, but that is what I recall from the Plain Dealer.

Now he wants Mason to defend him. So much for alleged incompetency there, I guess.

I think it's funny because he wants to blame a Democrat, he wants a Democrat to use his time to defend (his) corrupt Republican practices, and now he's saying the Democrat is the one that has to fix it.
