WARF/Akron switching to sports?

Ohio Media Watch is reporting that WARF in Akron, aka "Radio Free Ohio" is about to flip to the new AM radio format du jour, sports.

Clear Channel has already reserved the domain SportsRadio1350.com, and the flip could happen as soon as Friday.

1. WARF is the last liberal radio station in Ohio, IIRC

Switching to sports, how lame, our teams are so tepid that professional sports is hardly talked about in Northern Ohio any more.

2. Planned execution .......

After the 2006 election the word went out ..... shut down progressive talk.

1350 had the same things as 1230 AM Columbus happen to it ... double feeds
of news and programs @ the same time .... no $ for P.R. ..... and so on.

Progressive radio was very effective in fighting the robo calling that was done by
the republicans and other "election crimes."

The right wing's lies only can live in a vacuum where there is no answer to them ....
NPR does not fill that function either.

Hell, we are the majority in this state yet we are treated like dirt ..... they are
our airwaves too.

To my knowledge, progressive stations have been switching all over the country. The only cities that successfully got their Air America back has been Phoenix and Madison WI. Atlanta, New Haven CT, Cincy, Columbus, and many more have switched.

6. We can only hope....I miss Radio Free Ohio

In the meantime, it is back to regular music stations....there is no talk radio worth listening to now that WARF has gone to sports.
