Representative Stephanie Tubbs-Jones endorses Hillary Clinton, hosts fundraiser
Clinton in Cleveland on Saturday

April 30, 2007

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will hold a community event Saturday afternoon in Cleveland before attending three fund-raisers.

Clinton, who's speaking earlier in the day at commencement for Wilberforce University near Dayton, plans some type of public event, possibly at Cleveland's John Hay High School, before making an appearance at three receptions at the nearby Intercontinental Hotel. Tickets cost between $100 to $2,300.

Cleveland Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones is hosting the event with Democrats Lana Moresky and Louise Gund.

Clinton will be back May 12, when she will deliver the keynote address at this year's Ohio Democratic Party state dinner at the Ohio State Fairgrounds in Columbus.

1. Truth of the mattter is the Hillary visit this week has been an ever changing story inside the base.
Lana M. who is Hillary's cheif fund rasier/organizer here in Cuy. Cty has been scrambling all week to fill seats.

Several of us received messages from Lana late yesterday, saying give what you can, just attend.

I don't know anyone who is attending, but that doesn't mean much.

I am not solid for any candidate right now, which is the case with just about everyone of my political peers I have been talking to lately.

3. There are lots of little things to give Hillary respect for......I am not sure there is one
thing big enough that will compel the middle to vote for her.

4. Supposedly, Hillary is "strong" with the moderate & independent voters in upstate New York
Or so I have heard in a few places. So the woman must know "something" about crafting a message. Or triangulating :sigh:

5. I agree about NY, I spent a long week-end in Terrytown and Sleeply Hollow, NY and it is

strong Hillary country. She plays well in NY for a reason.

She has been an effective Senator for NY, and earned her re-election.

When I think about people voting for her, however, it's not how she crafts a message for NY, it's how she plays in the rest of the 49.
