1. What is the occasion?
I'm using my PDA @ the moment to view DU; so I really don't want to jump to another web board.....

2. the little band that could
but was told over and over, that it couldn't - drexel - is gigging for its first time in Columbus.

drexel makes urban appalachian minimalist soul music. Think Tom. T. Hall meets Ween and Barry White. Personally, I think that Brian Baker of Amplifier Magazine described us best recently:

"the pair imagine a world where the first Tom Waits album is produced by Van Dyke Parks, co-written by Laura Nyro and Carole King, hipped up by Burt Bacharach, and draped in the tiny unironic piano dramas of Randy Newman and the sophisticated hillbilly sheen of Jim James without a single self-conscious hesitation. Like caviar, scotch and stamp glue, the first taste might come as a bit of a shock but repeated exposure will surely elicit a grudging appreciation for Drexel's quirky charm."

We'll be at Ruby Tuesdays on Thursday May 31, and at the Ohio Hemp Fest on June 2nd, at 3:45 p.m. on the Oval at Ohio State University.

And oh yeah, I am a dedicated progressive and active leader in the Labor Movement. Vice President of Local #627, Ohio Association of Public School Employees (OAPSE), Dayton Public Schools.
