Message from Nurses Democratic Caucus Interim Chairperson
Welcome to the Web page of the Ohio Nurses Democratic Caucus! We are excited about our new organization and the potential for engaging like-minded Democratic nurses in the political process. In anticipation of some of your questions, I have organized this first message in a question/answer format.
What is the Ohio Nurses Democratic Caucus?
The Ohio Nurses Democratic Caucus (ONDC) is an official state wide caucus affiliated with the Ohio Democratic Party. Because we are promoting candidates on our web site, we are considered a political action committee and are registered with the Ohio Secretary of State’s office.
Who can be a member of the ONDC?
Membership is open to any registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, advanced practice registered nurse or students of any nursing program willing to identify themselves as a Democrat.
What are the purposes of the ONDC
The ONDC works to inform nurses about nursing and health care positions of the Democratic Party candidates, inform Democratic candidates about issues of concern to nurses, recruiting nurses to seek public office, and advising nurses of Democratic nurse candidates. Our mission statement can be found elsewhere on this web site.
How do I join the ONDC?
You can join the ONDC in one of two ways. You can join by internet by clicking on the button labeled “Contribute”.
Or you can mail a check made payable to Nurses Democratic Caucus and send it to:

How much does it cost to be a member?
Contributions for those who have an email address are a minimum of $10.00 per year. For those who will get periodic mailings by US mail, the contribution is a minimum of $15.00 per year.
Is my contact information shared with any other entity?
The data base is maintained by ONDC and is not shared.
How will I be informed about what the organization is doing?
In order to keep costs to a minimum, the primary mode of communication will be by periodic emails. Additionally, the web site will be updated on a regular basis. Because of the fluid nature of politics and campaigns, there will be more frequent email during election season. Those without emails will receive periodic mailings via US mail.

Message from Chis Redfern, Chairman of the Ohio Democratic Party
"The Ohio Democratic Party is proud to support the newly formed Ohio Nurses Democratic Caucus. Nurses around Ohio are on the front lines providing patient care and medical assistance to the people of our state and should be commended for their commitment to Ohio's families. Nurses and health care professionals also understand that we are a state in crisis with more than two million Ohioans without insurance and millions more lacking sufficient coverage. That is why we are so proud to have a Democratic Caucus of Nurses who understand that our Democratic candidates are the ones standing up for affordable health care for all of us, not just some of us. Working together to promote the issues important to Ohioans, the Nurses Democratic Caucus will be an important part of our Democratic team in 2008 and beyond."
