Victoria Wulsin leading Mean Jean Schmidt in fund raising for OH-2
Wulsin is a medical doctor and a PhD in public health. She did work with the Peace Corps in Africa. Just the kind of tasteful person we need in government.

OH-2
Mean Jean Schmidt puts this one in play. Her 2006 opponent, physician Victoria Wulsin has $344,315; Schmidt lags with $124,857 and is now the leading Republican after "Heimlich maneuvered out." It may be easier taking this than keeping it. Let's go from there.

OH-02: No Presidential Endorsement by Wulsin & Other News Items - Victoria Wulsin (D-Indian Hill) told the Enquirer editorial board today that she hasn't chosen a favorite in the presidential race. Meanwhile, Pho reports that is one of only 18 Democratic candidates on a list at Swing State Project of those with cash advantage at year end over a Republican incumbent, $344,315 to $124,857. And blogger Bill Sloat is providing great ongoing coverage of this race.

Schmidt could get knocked out in the primary. See Sloat:

OH-02 GOP Tom Brinkman: Ohio Christian Newspaper Declares Him 'Our Pick'

CINCINNATI (TDB) -- Christian Citizen calls the March 4 primary "a critical time for conservatives and the Value Voters," and has picked State Rep. Tom Brinkman in the OH-o2 contest against U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt. The newspaper -- which appears irregularly and is distributed through evangelical churches in SW and southern Ohio -- quietly put out the word for Brinkman last week. It describes the suburban Cincinnati lawmaker as a "conservative's conservative" and seems to say that Schmidt is not a really a Republican.

The endorsement may gain the term-limited Brinkman some attention -- he is a serious underdog, seriously underfunded and widely considered headed for defeat barring a political comeback of epic proportions. Here's what the Christian publication said:

"The 2nd Congressional District race is another hotly contested race where Republicans are trying to take that district from incumbent Jean Schmitt (sic). . . However, our pick for that race is Tom Brinkman. Also a former Ohio State Representative, Brinkman stands for lower taxes and no abortions. He has taken a pledge to 'oppose any and all efforts to increase marginal tax rates for individuals and/or businesses and oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing tax rates." Brinkman is known as a conservative's conservative and he wants to win the primary in the 2nd Congressional District because he fears that district could be lost to the Democrats due to a weak showing of Congresswoman Schmidt."

It is not elegant prose. And there is an error -- Brinkman is not a former rep.

Mean Jean Schmidt was head of the Cincinnati Right to Life group before she eeked out a primary win in a special election of OH2. I am going to fund Wulsin now, because early money could bark the 'pukes away from this election .

2. Wulsin had more money than MJ Schmidt in the last election...
It was close but Mean Jean survived because Schmidt took Warren and Claremont Counties in the election. Schmidt won by a 1% margin in 2006. Also remember that Warren, Claremont, Butler and Hamilton counties voted for Blackwell for governor. These counties make up SW Ohio. Part of Hamilton County is in the 2nd congressional district but not Butler County.

Brinkman (State Representative representing SW Ohio) is so far to the right he makes Hitler look like a moderate. There is not much difference politically between Brinkman and Schmidt. There is a chance Brinkman could beat Schmidt in the primary and that would not be good for Wulsin. Schmidt has been endorsed by the Ohio republican party, more for being the incumbent republican than anything else.

Heimlich maneuvered out because he thought Brinkman had the better chance of beating Schmidt in the primary. He thought a three way race in the primary would give Schmidt the advantage. Heimlich is almost as big a dick-head as Brinkman. There is no moderation in the republican party in the Ohio second congressional district. I also am expecting a big turn out for the primary and general election down here in SW Ohio. We Democrats are motivated down here but we only make up about 25% of the vote in Warren and Claremont counties. These two counties are key to the congressional election because of the population. The other areas in the second congressional district are not as populated.

Wulsin is concerned with Black running against her in the primary. There have been allegations of a dirty campaign by Black and his supporters by Wulsin and her supporters. It should be interesting to hear the dirt on this one at the next Warren County Democratic Party meeting.

All this said Wulsin would make a wonderful Congresswomen. The last thing we need is Schmidt or Brinkman winning.

8. I must confess that up until recently
"you" northerners in Ohio had little credence with "us" SW Ohioans because of the '06 Senate race but you all were correct about Brown and Hackett. That is to say Brown is a good guy and Hackett is not and was not the best candidate. I still believe that things were not handled well but that's politics. I have lost total respect for Hackett because of his comments then and now. Brown has been a good representative for Ohio in the US Senate. My hats off to all of you in "northern Ohio."

3. I've done my part.
Seriously all, Vic needs our $$$. Anything you can spare. The smaller and the more = the good!

One thing really hurting Mean Jean this time around... that expose of her in Cincinnati Magazine a few months back. People are still talking about how awful she appeared in that!

9. Vic needs to show up at some of these organizational meetings for Clinton and Obama
I don't know who Vic is for, but she should pick her side and ride this wave. She could be staring a huge base of passionate activists in the eye and ride some coattails.

I'd like to see her get involved in the presidential campaign, sooner, not later.
