Question about a petition to allow a casino in Ohio?

I was at work today and there was a lady asking people to sign a petition. She asked me and I told her I wouldn't sign until I could read it...she sorta fussed at first then she let me read it. But what she had wasn't very informative, all it said was that it was a ballot initiative to allow only ONE casino in the state of Ohio. Well I thought that sounded fishy so I didn't sign and told the lady I needed to do more research.

Has anyone else come across this? If so what is it about?

1. Possibly, it's about the casino near Wilmington.

Land at Rt. 73 and I-71 near Wilmington has been purchased in anticipation of building a casino. The project was luke warm until the nearly 8,000 job-loss situation at the DHL facility. I'm thinkin' people now WANT the casino because of the jobs it will create.

4. I want gambling to be legal in Ohio

but I was unsure of this petition due to the wording....the only ONE casino part kinda worried me because I did not want to hand a monopoly over to a single company!

I wish there would be a casino per the plan of the mayor of Lorain, but it is not in that plan.

I cannot think of a compelling reason to make gambling illegal.

but I just wanted to make sure I was not handing a monopoly over to one company...the one casino part kind worries me. Does that mean there will only EVER be one casino in Ohio or is it just one for now on a wait and see approach...?

If thats the case then I am going to sign the petition because I work close to the WV border and I am tired of seeing all the revenue from gamblers from Ohio going to Wheeling Island and other casino's!

Just another example of trying to legislate moral behavior?

Every day, folks in the Dayton area meet at the nearby malls to take a bus trip to Indiana, where casinos are legal, and gamble.

We need those jobs and revenue.

6. Casino in Ohio

I don't think the petition will allow the one casino they are
talking about to have a monopoly on gambling in Ohio.
My understanding is that it will just legalize gambling in
Ohio by starting with this one casino.
