Home Defaced With Message Of 'Death Obama'
Source: AP

POSTED: 8:02 am EDT September 4, 2008
UPDATED: 8:09 am EDT September 4, 2008

UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio -- A brick wall on an Ohio home has been defaced with the message "Death Obama."

It was spray-painted near a yard sign for Democrat Barack Obama outside the home of Lisa Carroll in the Columbus suburb of Upper Arlington.

Carroll said it's a sad day when a citizen can't express support for a presidential candidate without fear of persecution, intimidation or retaliation.

Police are investigating. They said they're not aware of any other incidents.

Local Democratic and Republican leaders are united in their disgust over the vandalism. County Democratic Party Zach Manifold called it shocking and pretty scary.

His Republican counterpart, Brad Sinnott, said it's "hooliganism" having nothing to do with politics.

1. I just heard this on the radio on the way to work
"Nothing to do with politics" my ass - Sinnott is just scrambling to try to get people to not associate a racist threat against a presidential candidate and his supporters with Republicans. But guess who the vandal is most likely to be voting for come November? Hint: It ain't Cynthia McKinney that's for sure.

"hooliganism?" Not a chance. It's pure politics and racism.

3. Why hasn't John McCain denounced and rejected this racist attack?
Does he silently or implicitly condone such actions?

6. Disturbing actions
by disturbed people. I have noticed many comments on other sites today. It seems that all the red meat thrown out this week has emboldened the weak of mind and cowards of racist kind. I've seen comments like "after this election there won't be a need for liberals anymore." As a liberal know this, over the last few years in the eyes of the over zealous, We have been dehumanized. We have been painted as some sort of enemy of the state. I am tired of it and can only point to whom has done this Hannity, O'Riley, Coulter, and Limbaugh

11. As best as I can determine...
This sort of thing comes from young people who listen to, religiously, and parrot, the rantings of Michael Savage. For some reason, he has quite the constituency amongst young people. They parrot his rantings about "Dems=Communists", in spite of the fact that they wouldn't know a commie if one bit them in the ass, and they certainly have no idea what Communism means, except "new, shiny bad thing".

Their postings are simply Michael Savage transcripts. The problem is that being young and dumb, they act out on the basis of them.

They do like the other squawking heads, but the real prime mover seems to be Savage. He is just crazed and stupid enough to appeal to the young.

15. Speaking of which...
Does anyone know of a good source, book, or internet site to get good information and arguments against those kind of attacks? I hear Liberalism/Democrats = Socialism/Communism all the time, but I have a hard time forming a counter-argument, other than, If that is true, than Conservatism is Fascism. But I would like to sound a little more informed or intelligent than that. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

18. I hate to say it, but get ready for more of the same.
And it's only gonna get worse.

"Hooliganism?" I'll see Sinnott that, and raise him: It's localized terrorism.
