Ohio Turnpike Draws The State's Fastest Speeders

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - The State Highway Patrol says lead-foot drivers on the Ohio Turnpike accounted for a lot of speeding tickets last year.

The patrol says that nearly one out of every five drivers who its troopers cited for exceeding the speed limit by 20 mph or more was caught on the turnpike.

Troopers who patrol the toll road across northern Ohio say it's difficult to pinpoint a reason there were so many speeders on the turnpike.

IMO, the reason there are a lot of speeders on the turnpike is that the road is clearly designed for safe travel at speeds in excess of 75 mph. People see the 65 mph limit for what it is: an easy way for the state to generate revenue, not a safety measure.

They fix any pot holes on the Turnpike anywhere else you could get lost in the holes.
