Mousepads, Calendars and Posters feature Auditor Mary Taylor
Mousepads, Calendars and Posters: Our Auditor "Swag" Scavenger Hunt

In case you missed it, an interesting story broke over the weekend in papers across the State. We need help to find out more.

You see, a few months ago, our current State Auditor told a "Tea Party" Rally that tax dollars should only be spent on "the things we the People want them spent on," but "that's not what's happening today." She decried "too much spending," and demanded "restrained government spending."

Well, this Sunday, the Dayton Daily News took a look at her own spending, and found that the Auditor herself was spending more dollars on self-promotional items than any other statewide offical. Since 2007, the state's "fiscal watchdog" has spent $57,816 of taxpayer dollars on magnets, posters, computer mousepads, calendars and CDs plastered with her name and photo. This was more than any other sitting statewide officeholder.

The Auditor's office defended the spending, saying these were not "trinkets" that "serve no purpose other than self-promotion."

Visit Pepper's site and find out how you can help find Mary's trinkets. We need to move her out and grab her seat on the reapportionment board.
