Woman loses eye in attack in Cincinnati nightclub
A 29-year-old Florence woman lost her eye after her former boyfriend threw a drink glass at her new boyfriend in a downtown Cincinnati nightclub and hit her instead, authorities said Friday.

Hamilton County Municipal Judge Julia Stautberg ordered Mark Teremi, 27, of Erlanger, held on a $250,000 bond on a charge of felonious assault stemming from the attack on Erin Callen at Bootsy’s, 631 Walnut St.

“The injuries were absolutely devastating to this young lady,” said Cincinnati Police Lt. Tom Lanter. “She has some serious disfigurement.”

Lanter, on the beat for 37 years, said the injuries were so horrific he brought pictures to the court to make sure the prosecutor and judge were aware of just how bad the attack was.

The attack happened just before 2 a.m. Thanksgiving morning. Lanter said. Callen was at Bootsy's with her new boyfriend.

“Something occurred where he threw the glass at her new boyfriend, missed him and hit her,” Lanter said. Lanter said the glass was a weapon.

Callen was rushed to University Hospital for treatment. Doctors said her eye would have to be removed quickly otherwise it could affect the sight in her other eye, Lanter said.
