I tried a week ago to get people in my local progressive group to mount an email/calling campaign, and I got blown off. I think the email I got in response was "You are a public employee in a Republican state. Get used to it." (and this was the answer from the local PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATS) Apparently, because I work in the public sector, my concerns about SB 5 were self-centered. I wrote on my own, but I don't see anyone else willing to do a damned thing. I have been trying to research when the bill is coming up for a vote, and I can't even find that!!!!

5. People Are Acting--The Media Just Won't Cover It

There were thousands down at the Statehouse today to protest SB 5. But the right-wing-controlled media in this town wouldn't even mention it. The protests started at 10:00 a.m., and I didn't even see a report on it until the 11:00 news tonight (and even then, it was buried as something like the last story before the weather--not even considered newsworthy enough to be a "top story").

Just saw a report that said they were estimating the crowd at around 8,000. And just by looking at it, I can tell you it was probably 90% Anti-SB 5.
