COLUMBUS OCSEA members and families: Attend rally Tues., Feb. 22 at Statehouse at 1 p.m. OCSEA members, friends and family are encouraged to come out to the next and, perhaps, final Senate Bill 5 hearing on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. Buses start leaving from OCSEA HQ at noon. It's hoped this will be the biggest turnout yet, since the bill could be voted out of committee that night or the next day on Wednesday.
Senator Kevin Bacon, Chair of the Insurance, Commerce and Labor Committee, has announced the committee will hear testimony beginning at 4 p.m. from those individuals who contacted the Chairman’s office prior to the Feb. 17th hearing. See Chairman’s announcement here.
Bring cans of food for the Second Harvest Food Bank and wear your street clothes or uniforms. See you there!
CANTON-an e-mail from a firefighter friend: I am currently requesting all interested parties to participate in a demonstration in oppostion to Ohio SB 5 outside the Canton Civic Center @ 1101 Market St. N in Canton, on 2/22 @ 5 pm, where governor Kasich will be addressing the Canton Chamber. Please forward this invitation on to all your members and any other interested, sympathetic parties. Also, try to get in contact with each other and myself so we can try to be semi-organized and possibly arrange group transport if we have enough interest. We really need to show these elected officials that there is widespread STRONG oppostion to this bill and its measures and we need to show up EN MASSE, not just in Columbus, but all around Ohio.
I'm counting on all of you to help me get the word out as quickly as possible and build enthusiasm and interest in getting involved with this.
