Edited on Fri Mar-18-11 08:54 AM by rexcat
when and how do we get an initiative on the ballot to change the Ohio Constitution to allow this. My proposal is to copy the law in Wisconsin and start work now. We Ohioans can't wait four years to rid Kasick from the governorship. He will completely destroy Ohio by the next gubernatorial election in the state.

edited for spelling and clarity

4. Ohio CAN have a do-over: How to throw the bums out This Year
Edited on Sat Mar-19-11 01:15 PM by Blue Mark
Alas Ohio lacks any statutory recall mechanism for state officials - but that doesn't mean we can't throw the bums out - we do have a citizen's initiative process for placing issues and constitutional amendments on the ballot.

Use the Citizen's Initiative Process to Amend the Governor's Term of Office.

I'd suggest a ballot issue that does the following:
1) Ends the current term of Governor and (possibly) other state officials and authorizes a special election for replacements to fill temporary terms.
2) Realigns the term of governor and other key state officials to coincide with the national election cycle - eliminating having those races during low turnout mid-term elections.
3) Enacts a statutory recall law for future use.

5. There is a group...
That have been up at the Statehouse every time we've protested. They have an attorney from the Dayton area (I think it's Dayton) that is working on the legislation for making Ohio a recall state. The only problem with putting it through NOW is the fact that it has to be agreed upon by our state level senators and representatives, and we know exactly how they feel about us little people. The contact information for this group is as follows:

6. A citizen referendum by-passes the legislators. elected officials cannot interfere. The SOS and AG
have to approved of the ballot language, but cannot prohibit the process.

7. This Is A Great Idea
I don't know why it never even occurred to me. I would fully support any initiative to get this going. Then again, I'd do just about anything to get Kasich out of office as soon as possible.

The only problem is that if it is successful, the Republicans will do nothing but use it to try to recall every Democratic Governor elected from here to eternity.

9. Legislation to allow recall has been put forward
Here's the link from Progress Ohio. It won't go far given the make-up of the legislature, but it's a start.
