The City of Hilliard has been named one of the state's "Best Hometowns" by Ohio Magazine.

The announcement was made Aug. 18.

The magazine will feature Hilliard and four other cities in its November issue. Ohio Magazine chose Hilliard based on five criteria: community spirit, business environment, heritage and culture, education and health and safety.

"When somebody is looking to move, a business is looking to relocate, or a visitor is looking for a place to visit, it just reconfirms that Hilliard is a wonderful community to come to," said Destination Hilliard executive director Christy Clark.

1. A disingenuous award

Hilliard, a suburb of Columbus, is merely an extension of the central city. It wouldn't even be but a fraction of what it is today if not for the benefits it receives from being in close proximity to a major urban core.
