Mayor Mark Mallory pays unexpected visit to protesters (Cincinnatti)

CINCINNATI - Protesters camped out at Piatt Park for Occupy Cincinnati got an unexpected visit early Wednesday morning. Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory stopped by and talked with the people after they received more citations from Cincinnati police.

It is day five of the local protest that began with a weekend demonstration on Fountain Square and then moved to Piatt Park. The law in Cincinnati prohibits gathering at public places after hours.

Cincinnati police on Sunday night started issuing fines each night to people who remained at the park after official closing time. So far, police have issued more than $11,000 in fines.

On Wednesday, protestors begin their fight against those fines. They have a lawyer who is donating legal services to defend everyone who has received citations. They plan to march from the park to the courthouse around noon Wednesday. One person, representing all of the protestors, plans to stand up in court and plead not guilty to fight the citation and fine ...
