What is it going to take to clean up Ohio?

I just got this activist email......Petition time!

the email >

Dear Friends,

What is it going to take to clean up Ohio?

I’m writing to let you know about an important new campaign with a concrete answer to that question. The campaign is called Reform Ohio Now, and we’re working with them on a ballot initiative of common-sense reforms that will help stop corruption in Ohio.

But we need your help! To get their amendments on the ballot in November, the campaign needs signature-gatherers to help collect 450,000 signatures by the end of July. Click here to help collect signatures so Ohioans can vote on these amendments.

It’s easy: sign up in the yellow box at www.ReformOhioNow.org. They’ll give you a signature form, and all you have to do is get a few friends, family, or coworkers to sign it, then mail it back to them.

You've probably read about the $10-$15 million of our tax dollars lost in a shady investment deal—by a man who traded campaign donations for huge favors. Recently, the news got worse: More than $215 million was lost from the same fund for injured workers.

Reform Ohio Now’s plan will get special interest money out of Ohio elections, end non-competitive elections in gerrymandered districts and bring real transparency to election management in Ohio. These reforms will hold politicians accountable for the messes they’ve made. Read more.

Here’s what the Dayton Daily News said about the proposal: "Exceptional work.... They've been creative, bold and thoughtful in moving Ohio back toward democracy." (Dayton Daily News, 5/19/05)

We don’t have much time! Volunteer now, and join us as we work to change this state. Help get the signatures we need before the deadline passes!

We can deliver any supplies: petitions, instructions, posters and summaries of the proposed ballot issues to any organization or individual that requests them or simply click the links above and get it started in your circle of friends.

Thank you for caring about Ohio and our future.
