Anybody around Oklahoma City see that meteor last night?
<I posted this in the lounge then remembered this forum was here!>

I was heading home from work last night, from the extreme northeast Oklahoma City/Edmond area back to Tulsa. I was getting on the Kilpatrick Turnpike at Eastern Ave. when I saw a HUGE meteor streaking down at about a 30 degree angle to the South of me. I mean this thing lit up the whole sky and left a beautiful blue-green trail behind it.It appeared to break up well before it hit the ground.

Just wondering if anyone else saw it?

1. Didn't see that one ...

I'm in the western part of OKC near Bethany. Stuff that goes on up there is around the curve. :-)

I have seen a few similar to that very recently, but from your description not quite so dramatic. The color was either very subtle or non-existent. Seems like either we're traveling through some meteor pocket, or I'm just noticing them more since I'm outside more at night lately.

3. damn
I'm surprised this one didn't make the news. It not only was huge, but it lasted a good 10-12 seconds or more. Scared the shit out of me, I thought it was an incoming missile at first.

4. Me!
I saw it and reported it to one of the Meteor Observation Organizations. I am looking for the email I got back- There were many reports that night from AR, OK, and TX. That fireball was absolutely incredible...

When I find their emailed response I'll post it in this thread. It was a very informative response with information about the likely source.
