New poll shows Henry with wide lead

TULSA, Okla. A new poll shows Governor Brad Henry enjoying a lead of more than 40 percentage points over Republican challenger Ernest Istook in the race for governor.

The Oklahoma Poll's telephone survey of 547 likely voters shows 68-point-4 percent of respondents would vote for Henry, compared to 24-point-7 percent for Istook.

The poll was conducted October 19th through the 23rd by SoonerPoll-dot-com and showed 6-point-9 percent of respondents were undecided. It was sponsored by the Tulsa World and K-O-T-V Channel 6 and had a margin of error of plus or minus 4-point-1-9 percent.

Oklahoma's general election will be held November 7th.

The poll also showed more than 80 percent approved of Henry's job performance, the highest rating in the nearly 14 years the poll has been conducted.
