Winter Storm 2007 - Muskogee OK *WARNING PIC HEAVY*
These are pictures of our property. We are without electricity in our rural area but my office has power and a warm shower. This is much worse than 2000 and our forecast is for 3-4 inches of snow Saturday and Sunday. We have a generator and are able to run the blower on our Buck Stove and our refrigerator. I am cooking on our 2 burner propane camp stove so we are eating well and staying warm.

1. WOW!
I'm glad you have a place to go where you can take a hot shower and stay warm. Sounds like you were much better prepared than most.

Those poor trees! It's supposed to get above freezing today and tomorrow, I hope it will be enough to melt some of the ice off the trees so they stand a chance at surviving. Another couple of inches of wet snow on top of all this ice will do them in.

Stay warm and be safe!

2. Thanks AndyA
Old soldiers are always prepared. Even the female ones. We have camped all our lives and went 12 days without power during 2000. This is much worse in regards to the damage. We had no tree damage in 2000 but solid sheet of ice on ground. As you see there is not much on the ground but all in the trees. The trees still standing without breakage are the pecans, oaks and other hard woods. The previous owner planted those pine trees next to the house. They were the first to come down.

3. Holy...
Gosh, I'm sorry for your trees! And you and yours, of course! I'm glad to hear you have a little bit of power source, anyway. This weekend is going to be really hard on a lot of people like you. I feel so lucky that we didn't lose power here where I live.

4. Same scenes here on the lake just north of Wagoner. We just now today got
our phone lines repaired, still waiting for electricity. We have a generator too and are okay for heat & cooking (gas) but the gen takes $20 in gas a day. x( :argh:

We'll probably wear out the chainsaw over the next few weeks too.

5. Update 1/22/2007
We got our power back last night. Boy you just don't realize how good your shower feels until you have had to "wash the important parts" for days on end. It will take us months to chip, shred, burn etc all the trees that we lost.

Runing the generator. What part of Muskogee are you in It looks like the east side...east of York??
We went to Lowes today looking for some electrical stuff for repairs around the neighborhood up here at Snug Harbor, they were out of most everything...

7. Gooseneck Bend - SE Muskogee
Yes I live very East of York about 6 miles. The Arkansas river loops around our area and thus the name "gooseneck bend". Look on the map and you can see the part of the river I'm talking about.
