A giant thanks to all of you who offered advice and well wishes concerning my wedding last weekend. My new wife and I enjoyed your state very much. The wedding was beautiful; a bit windy but otherwise all good.
I do have a bit of bad news to share as well as a plea for help for those of you who live in SE Portland.
After the wedding, my wife and I took off for a mini-honeymoon at Cannon Beach. We enjoyed ourselves very much and ended things off with a sightseeing trip down the Sunset Highway on our way back to Portland. We visited the zoo and arboretum, the rose garden and the Japanese Garden. We did a little shopping at in NW and E Portland and capped it all off with a trip to the top of Mt. Tabor.
While we were visiting Mt. Tabor, a young woman smashed a car window and stole my wife's black purse. She then proceeded to buy a $800 men's bracelet at La-Rog Jewelers on SE Foster using my wife's check card.
Based on witnesses testimonies at Mt. Tabor, we believe she was driving a marine-blue or teal colored early nineties ford explorer, or similar; (Maybe a Blazer). The salesperson at the jewelry shop said she was a young woman of slight build, at about 5'3", with reddish-brown hair pulled tightly back on her head. She told the salesperson her address was SE 136th, zip code 97236.
This incident happened on Monday, 3/21/05 and we had to fly home the following morning. I found out about the jewelry shop purchase earlier today.
If anyone from Portland lives in or near the above area in SE Portland and knows anyone who fits the description. Please respond or PM me with details. My wife had all of her identification in her purse and is very worried about changing her last name to mine without it.
We would very much like to find this young woman and confront her. Not only did she break into my car and steal my wifes purse, she also provided a very distasteful end to what was otherwise a wonderful wedding and vacation in your otherwise totally awesome State.
Let me know if anyone can offer any help. Tomorrow I will post a screen shot of a video tape I took that I think shows the back of the womans Explorer. Feel free to ask friends and family in the area. I know this is a very long shot, but I plan to post on the Local Portland Yahoo board and tribe.net seeking help.
Thanks again for everything; we will be back to visit again soon.
