Wyden votes Yea on Guantanamo Measure

Does anyone understand Ron Wyden's vote on the Graham Amendment, eliminating Guantanamo inmate's access to US Courts? This seems on its face to support the Bush Administration's positions that only the Administration can make decisions regarding "combatants". Even Gordon Smith voted against it.

1. I was appalled! What is he thinking? Wyden has voted the wrong

way on a lot of things. Not a very progressive Dem. Actually, I'm going to be working here in Wasco County on getting rid of him, Smith and Greg Walden.

2. Curious about Wyden

I think we need to march Wyden's office w/ pitch forks. Use the pitch fork rebellion method.

He has lost me on several votes, including this one for detainee rights. (The others were Medicare, Cafta and confirming Judge Roberts)

It's time for an explanation. I'd like to know, Senator Wyden, are you really a Democrat? A Democrat who stands for Oregon's working and military families? And that includes human rights issues, so that any detainee would receive the same type of treatment that we would like to see our own military men and women receive.
Wyden is falling short on critical issues for vulnerable people, including our military in harms way and working families. (Not to mention the human race - having no right to defend yourself is ok?) He's out of touch.

His reasons for voting for certain things, just don't make sense to me. What he said about voting for Roberts - that he couldn't not vote for Roberts because if he did that the Republicans would vote against a democratic candidate if we were to nominate one in the future - that's not a good reason.

It shows that Wyden votes against his better judgement. We need someone who votes consistently for what he believes in, like Sen. Wellstone did.

3. I don't understand this either

Wyden isn't perfect (as if anyone is), but this vote makes no sense whatsoever. I'd like to hear his explanation.

7. I have a feeling Wyden's not going to run again

after this 6 year term is up in 2010. No particular facts to cite for that. Just a hunch.
