where does your Congress critter stand on Iraq ?
It's been no secret where Defazio & Blumenauer stand and their websites reflect this in no uncertain terms. Not sure about Darlene Hooley & David Wu, though.

God, I wish we had more people in Congress like Pete Defazio. Check out his website, he doesn't mince words about Iraq, the national debt, trickle down economics, etc....he's not afraid to speak his mind on REAL issues. Blumenauer's website put's forth a lot of the same positions as Defazio's, stating his longstanding opposition to the Iraq war...of course you'd expect that from a "safe" liberal district like Blumenauer's.

Darlene Hooley is my congresswoman and, of course, I prefer her as my rep instead of some GOP idiot, like Jim Bunn. Looking at Hooley's website, however, you wouldn't know that there was a war going on in Iraq. In fact she uses GOP framing with a section on "Protecting the Homeland"...god, I HATE that term. Honestly, I don't know where she stands on the mess in Iraq or anything else of any consequence. David Wu's website is pretty much like Hooley's, no mention of Iraq, at least on the main page. Too bad we don't still have someone like Elizabeth Furse in the 1st district instead of the more centrist Wu.

So, does anybody know Hooley's & Wu's position on Iraq ? Any possible progressive challenger's to them this year ? And who's running against Republican Greg Walden this year ? I know it's a pretty tough district for Dem's, but it would be a great pickup.

Here's their official sites:

Darelene Hooley: http://hooley.house.gov/
David Wu : http://www.house.gov/wu/
Earl Blumenauer: http://blumenauer.house.gov/default.aspx

1. I just relocated from DeFazio's district to Hooley's. I had met DeFazio
a couple times at forums on social security and was very impressed (shocked!) that a politician was speaking about issues so logically and clearly. I had met Hooley once while campaigning during the presidential election but did not get the same sense from her. I checked her website and emailed hew asking her position on the war and if she could post it on her website considering we have been there 3 years already! Thanks for pointing this out, Double+good.

2. Defazio's been on Thom Hartmann
I've heard Defazio on Thom Hartmann's show & it's refreshing to hear him tell it like it is in regards to all of the disasters created by Bush. I think Hartmann had Hooley on at least once that I know of and when asked a pointed question about the situation in Iraq, she hemmed & hawed & just seemed afraid to say anything either way. Maybe she thinks her district is too conservative or soemthing by taking a stand on this ?

3. If that's the case, I guess she needs some input from her
constituents showing how important this issue is. She is a member of Congress who votes on issues concerning Iraq. She must have an opinion and state it clearly.

4. I am thankful to have DeFazio as my congressman.
He is one of the few in congress who have integrity, IMHO.
