I often call ol' Gordie, and I usually get the same guy take my comments. Several times he's gotten into an argument with me. He's not the typical polite "thanks for your comment" type.

Today's conversation was typical:

Me: "Hello. I'd like to make a comment. Seeing as how we have a certifiable crazy person as president -- (I was going to ask that Gordie try to rein in the Chimp on Iran...)

Snarky Phone Dude, cutting me off: "Well, the Senator doesn't agree with that assessment."

Me: "Well, hopefully we can kick him out in '08 then."

Dude: *click* (hangs up)

1. "Well, the Senator doesn't agree with that assessment."
I don't think that arbusto's obvious mental defect(s) is a mater of opinion, simply an acknowledgment of fact.

2. Yes!
I think I know exactly who you are talking about. Sounds like he's about 20 and thinks he knows everything there is to know.

I've screamed at him 'til he hangs up. I'm generally calm and composed when discussing things with people but that guy gets my blood boiling.

He doesn't seem to get the whole "representative government" thing. Thinks it's a football game and his side is invincible.

Snarky Phone Dude's gonna end up impotent and lonely, pining for the days when his beloved fascists so gloriously ruled the world.

3. I've had several conversations with him and
he seems like a know-it-all type. I agree with Nostradammit about his probable age. He seems fairly young.

Late last summer or early fall I was speaking with him about net neutrality, I expected him to have some internet savvy but I was surprised at his lack of knowledge and how certain he was that he was absolutely right in his position. I tried to be civil but I got quite irritated. Then I remembered this old joke:

Don't try to teach a pig to sing. It's a waste of your time and it only irritates the pig.

5. Last I heard, Clyde tha Glide is an active Texas Republican
Ever wonder who makes up the 10% of blacks who register GOP? Ever wonder who's in the miniscule percentage of black W supporters? I guess Clyde really let his freak flag fly when he moved back to Houston.

The only way Clyde would run against Gordo is in the Republican primary.

We need someone who's independently wealthy, well-known and generally respected statewide, and capable of bring in solid support from rural Oregon. So far, freshly-Democratic Ben Westlund looks like our best bet for a demographically-winning contender, but I doubt he's going to do it -- it'd be a pretty huge swing from a former Republican state rep to Democratic nat'l senator, and people might distrust his motives for that kind of maneuvering. I would bet it's crossed his mind tho.

How about ... Tonya Harding? She'll kneecap ol' Gordie!

Or maybe DeFazio?

On edit ... just saw sandnsea's post on how DeFazio won't run.

6. Yep. He's a smarmy little bastard.
He's one reason I don't call Gordo unless it's REAL important.
