Cascadia Wildlands Project, a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to defending the forests, waters and wildlife of the Cascadia bioregion, is seeking to hire an Executive Director by March 2007.
Cascadia Wildlands Project's mission is to defend the forests, waters and wildlife of Cascadia by monitoring environmentally destructive projects and educating, organizing and agitating for a more compassionate and responsible relationship with the ecosystems of our bioregion. We are aggressively working to protect remaining old-growth forests, ensure species recovery and restore degraded landscapes. Founded in 1997, its current employees include an Executive Director, Development Director, Legal Director, and Alaska Field Representative. Cascadia Wildlands Project's main office, where the Executive Director will be based, is in Eugene, Oregon, and the organization has an Alaska field office in Cordova, Alaska. With this hire, the current Executive Director, Josh Laughlin, will shift to Program Director, bringing the total staff to five.
Cascadia Wildlands Project is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization that is governed by a Board of Directors.
The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing conservation campaigns, developing and implementing a strategic plan, building capacity and fiscal stability, inspiring and guiding staff, representing the organization in public arenas, ensuring responsible financial management, and working with the Board of Directors. The ideal candidate would have non-profit management experience at the Executive Director level, grant/fundraising experience, a commitment to the organization's mission, and knowledge of public lands management and environmental statutes and regulations.
